These works represent my conceptual goals of compositions that stretch visualization norms. Open areas are favored in these works as is the emphasis on my interpretation of Yin/Yang contrasts. That seesaw of protagonists vying for attention has morphed into later paintings with a similar space but with more compositional elements.
- Acrylic on paper (22.5″ x 30″) and Masonite (3′ x 4′)
- Pasted elements, rubbed on paint, scrubbed, repeat.
- Space-stacked, abstracted items still identifiable.
- Yin & Yang simplicity.
“But, after all, the aim of art is to create space – space that is not compromised by decoration or illustration, space within which the subjects of painting can live.”
